Flow

‘‘Tis the nature of energy to flow

And so

The breath I breathe is only mine so long as molecules of air remain

Affixed, attached absorbable

It soon grows toxic

And must be expelled

Inspire anew

Refreshed and free

Not really mine

Temporary

Life giving though in the interim

And death will show if not surrendered

For the nature of energy is to flow

Choose

Let’s talk about what IS.

Because the general consensus and habit seems to be that what gets mentioned or perpetuated or emphasized is what isn’t.

What is lacking.

What is wrong.

What we can’t do and why.

And this train of thinking is just as available as the alternative.

The alternative of speaking of what is.

What is here?

What is happening NOW?

What do I have available to me.

What am I grateful for?

We speak of choice and the powers therein.

And choice is all we have.

The choice to reinforce uplifted, powerful and creative thinking…

Or to reinforce the same model of scarcity which infiltrated the masses, media and the like.

It all comes down to choice and then reinforcement.

If I am miserable I have made a choice.

If I am aware and fulfilled I have made a choice.

Contrary to popular belief our well being stems directly from the World within, thus painting the glasses through which we view everything, and everyone else.

The choice is yours.

And mine.

Reinforce

What can I control?

It turns out not so much after all.

And by control I mean positively (or negatively) effect the outcome of a particular instance or occurrence.

Yet why would I ever want (or need to control something?)

Perhaps my child is about to dash into traffic after a basketball.

I can intervene by catching the child on her way down the driveway or by getting her attention thus stopping a potential catastrophe.

I suppose you could say I controlled that event.

Better yet, I “prevented” an alternate less desirable outcome.

What about a particular job I am pining over and longing for and filled with passion about?

I can make myself the ultimate candidate but in the end my selection is the decision of some other entity be it another human or often today a computer algorithm.

Let’s try another…

Hundreds of thousands of people would Love for the Eagles to win the Super Bowl, and in turn they adopt all manner of ritual, superstition and fantasy. All in an effort to influence the outcome of a game.

A game.

Both sides pray to God for their success in battle.

A game.

Both sides curse their opponent and wish ill will to them.

A game.

Both sides truly believe they are more worthy than the opponent.

A game. And a reminder: I am talking about the fans here.

Is this control or alignment with a certain train of thinking?

Further, is this thinking uplifted or fueled by the desire to triumph at another’s expense?

What then can we control?

Ultimately we can only control the voice within.

The inner monologue so to speak.

And even then it takes a lifetime of redirection and silent training to groove the mind into thinking in a particular way.

For the large majority I believe negativity, lack and scarcity are the grooves which have worn deeply over a lifetime. For others it is doubt and fear and uncertainty.

An alternative exists though. One of positivity, abundance and joy. And an important distinction is worthy of explanation here:

By choosing uplifted thinking in lieu of the opposite is not to say that the full gamut of human emotion is unimportant or that only positivity and happiness should prevail. It is to say, much more simply, that the train of thoughts we choose to reinforce will become the stuff of our entire being.

Emotional tendencies, attitudes and beliefs are TRAINABLE/LEARNABLE/PLASTIC.

Good, bad or otherwise, that which we entertain and accept and reinforce repeatedly will become out reality.

It is already our reality.

Love.

Rocks

Emotions have inertia too. Not just rocks and cars and the stuff of science.

Emotions can get rolling in one direction and never look back. And the ride can be exhilarating.

Or daunting.

Or exhausting.

Or numbing.

Or frightening.

Or inspiring.

Or defining.

Or educational.

Or sweet.

Or bitter.

And all of this is okay. In fact, it is a required right of passage for being human.

Feel good campaigns and urges to “Grab a Coke” insist upon only one inertial direction.

And the “other way” or “downward track” or dark or sad or neutral or blah is frowned upon as less than ideal.

As something to be thwarted or avoided or altogether blocked or ignored.

But this is a mistake of the grandest stature.

Because the answers to the questions we didn’t even know to ask are being broadcast to us always, and especially in the moments of otherwise.

In the moments of “struggle”.

In the moments of grey and the moments of inner strife.

The answers to our most pressing and deeply rooted questions are within reach if only we would listen. And be mindful of where we are emotionally with respect to the ebb and flow of human feeling.

Feeling is not just an “F” word.

And it isn’t just for human resources meetings and ooogly googly hippies.

Feeling is what it means to be human.

And more specifically, what it means to be sentient and ALIVE.

I choose to FEEL and to be mindful of the ever-present insistence toward “changing” what it is that’s going on within. Because my current and pervading vibration is a direct result of the vibrations I have been cultivating and entertaining in each of the previous NOW moments of my life.

Focus on the NOW.

Feel. (scary I know)

And remember: you’re doing it right and everything is going to be just fine.

NOW

What is a New Years resolution but a thought of positivity and inspiration?

A new year and a new beginning.

A new…

anything

everything.

Every day brings this renewal opportunity but we get caught up in the grind. Caught up in the living. In the surviving. In the fray.

But within the fray resides the Love and the experience and the flow required as passage to this experience of Life.

And each NOW ushers in this profound reality. A reality replete with new beginnings and experience and the glue to bind them.

The stickiness required to assemble your rich tapestry of beauty and creativity and compassion and truth.

Welcome to the NOW.

It’s all you’ll ever need.
