The NOW is painful

The NOW is ugly

The NOW is bitter

The NOW is uncomfortable
Nobody ever tells you that.

Instead we are conditioned to believe the natural way of things is rosy and perfect and devoid of struggle.

And while those open and free moments are just as readily attainable, they cannot exist without the opposite.

We cannot have one without the other.

I am grateful for the presumably “down” moments as they provide  the contrast by which the up days become visible.  Otherwise everything is just a blur.
