How do we reel ourselves back in to the NOW when the distractions all around us pull so hard? 

Through practice. 

First: the practice of awareness. Awareness of the fact that we are distracted in this moment. Without this awareness the rest doesn’t work. 

Second: the practice of re-focusing attention back to the desired task, person or otherwise. This happens over and over until the focus is automatic 

Third: the enjoyment of the process. Being able to laugh at how easily we become distracted is paramount in this game of life. Mindfulness is hard so cut yourself some slack. 

If mindfulness was easy, everyone would be doing it. Don’t kid yourself. This is HARD work. All the more reason to stick with it.
