Character

I see the summit at the outset.

Looming in the distance,

unconquerable.

And yet the next bit of snow lies before me,

lush and pristine,

awaiting my boot print.

And the next.

And the next.

The summit looks closer than it is,

and to watch it as I step along the path is an exercise in futility.

For the summit remains the summit,

and reaching it will be momentous.

But the climb and the journey therein,

is where true character is forged.
